12 Fun & Easy Fall Activities for Toddlers (Mom-Approved)

Toddler painting pumpkin

Fall is such a sweet season with little ones. The air gets crisp, the leaves start changing, and suddenly everything feels a little more magical. But if you’ve got a toddler (like I do!), you know activities need to be simple, short, and easy to set up — otherwise they’re more stress than fun.

That’s why I put together this list of 12 fun and easy fall activities for toddlers — all of them mom-approved and perfect for ages 2–3. We’ve actually tried a few of these ourselves (pumpkin painting was a huge hit in my house!), and I can promise they’re just the right mix of engaging without being overwhelming.

Leaf Play & Crafts

1. Leaf Collage Grab a glue stick or a sheet of contact paper and let your toddler press colorful leaves onto the page. This is a no-mess craft that doubles as a keepsake.

2. Sticker Leaf Craft Toddlers love stickers! Hand them a sheet of fall leaf stickers and blank paper and watch them create their own “fall art.”

3. Color Sorting Leaves Go on a quick leaf hunt and bring home a few red, yellow, and brown ones. Then let your toddler sort them into little piles. Simple, hands-on learning!

4. Leaf Toss Game Cut out paper leaves (or use fabric ones) and set up a basket. Toddlers can toss the “leaves” in like a beanbag game.

5. Fall Coloring Pages Print out pumpkin and leaf coloring sheets and let your toddler go to town with crayons. Bonus points if you sit and color alongside them.

Pumpkin Fun

6. Pumpkin Painting We actually tried this, and it was one of G’s favorite activities! I gave him a mini pumpkin and some washable paint, and he was so proud of his masterpiece. It’s a great alternative to carving for toddlers.

7. Decorate Mini Pumpkins with Stickers Another one we’ve done — and I love how low-lift it is. Just grab a bag of stickers (googly eyes, shapes, or even Halloween ones) and let your toddler go wild.

Sensory & Play

8. Corn Sensory Bin Fill a plastic bin with dried corn kernels, add some scoops and cups, and let your toddler dig and pour. G is obsessed with stacking cups and pouring right now, so I'm excited to try this one! It keeps them entertained longer than you’d think!

9. Bake Pumpkin Muffins TogetherToddlers love to “help.” Let them stir, pour, or sprinkle while you bake. Even if it gets messy, the memories are worth it.

10. Dance Party to Fall Songs Play a toddler fall playlist or classics like “Five Little Pumpkins” and have a mini dance party in your living room.

☕ Cozy Fall Moments

11. Read Fall Books Under a Blanket Snuggle up with fall-themed books (like The Very Hungry Caterpillar's First Fall or Peekaboo: Pumpkin) and a cozy blanket. It’s such a sweet way to slow down.

12. Sing Fall Songs Together Try simple songs like “Autumn Leaves Are Falling Down.” Toddlers love repetition, and singing together builds connection (and language skills).

Enjoy Making Memories

The toddler years are short, but the memories we make during seasons like this last forever. These 12 fall activities for toddlers are easy enough for a busy mom to set up, fun enough to keep little ones engaged, and sweet enough to become family traditions.

So grab a mini pumpkin, a stack of stickers, or a cozy blanket — and enjoy this fall season with your toddler. 🍂
