3 Journal Prompts for Moms to Reflect on the Month

As moms, it’s so easy to go from one busy week to the next without ever stopping to reflect. But taking a few minutes at the end of each month to check in with yourself can be powerful.

For me, journaling has become one of the simplest forms of self-care. It doesn’t matter if I’m typing in a digital journal or scribbling in a notebook—I just need a quiet moment to breathe, reflect, and reset.

If you’ve been craving a way to slow down, here are 3 simple journal prompts to help you close out the month with intention.

1. What am I most proud of this month?

It could be something big, like completing a project, or something small, like staying consistent with bedtime routines. Write it down and celebrate it.

2. What felt hard for me this month?

Be honest with yourself. This isn’t about judgment—it’s about noticing what drained your energy so you can support yourself better moving forward.

3. What do I want more of next month?

Think about how you want to feel. Do you need more rest, more connection, more movement? Naming it helps you set the tone for the weeks ahead.

Why Journaling Matters for Moms

Journaling doesn’t have to take hours—it can be as little as 5 minutes before bed or during nap time. This month, I listened to Relax Radio Station (Apple Music) and spent time journaling before logging into work. The act of pausing to write down your thoughts helps you process, reset, and remind yourself that your needs matter too.
